INGREDIENTS
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of sugar
- 2 cups of softened butter
- 6 cups of all purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons of baking powder
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla
- 1 teaspoon of red food coloring
STEPS
1/ Pre-heat oven to 400° F;
2/ In a large bowl, mix the sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs until well blended;
3/ Mix in the flour and the baking powder;
4/ Divide the dough in half and put half in another bowl;
5/ In one bowl, mix in the red food coloring until desired pink color is obtained;
6/ Roll out white dough with rolling pin on a slightly floured work surface;
7/ Roll out pink dough on a slightly floured work surface;
8/ Cut out small and large hearts with cookie cutter;
9/ Place large hearts on baking sheet;
10/ Cut center from each large heart and replace each center with heart of opposite color;
You can also cut out sides of each larger hearts or place smaller hearts on top of larger hearts;
11/ Bake 5 to 9 minutes until edges are golden brown;
12/ Let it cool for 2 minutes and remove from baking sheet.
